I had a wardrobe filled with strange adventures
in four sizes of clothing. These included sad
featureless clothes which aspired to give me a
business look and too many clothes which were
purchased just because I could fit into them -
and not because I loved them or they loved me.
There were also too many clothes which made it
impossible to find anything. I felt such guilt
every time I went to my wardrobe - all those
clothes in various sizes just hanging there and
reproaching me for being too fat or too thin or
not just right.
Then Eve came along to do, what I can only
describe as an excavation. In an incredibly
short time there was space – and growing piles
of clothes which could move on from the stuck,
stuffed space which had been my wardrobe.
Expensive clothes that I was reluctant to stuff
in a sack and throw in a charity bin were
hallmarked for a brilliant cause which would
help other women dress for success, other more
prosaic items went to recycling bins. It was
quite a work out for me – Eve got me to try on
everything, checked the fit, made suggestions
for minor alterations which could lift a garment
or improve the line. She looked for colour that
would make my skin and eyes glow and cut that
would flatter and enhance my figure. She made
great suggestions for putting different garments
together to make fresh and fashionable
ensembles. She also got me to look at my
jewellery with new eyes and reignited my
enthusiasm for personalising a garment with
accessories. |

We compiled a list of items I didn’t have which
would give more flexibility to my wardrobe and
had a huge laugh at the strange odd garments
that emerged from time to time. She also got me
to see myself in a different light, to focus on
my best features and dress to enhance these
instead of always being obsessed by dressing to
hide my weaknesses.
Through it all I felt that I was with one of my
best friends, someone whose judgement I could
trust absolutely and who really cared that I
look my absolute best for every occasion.
Since the great wardrobe excavation I find that
I take delight in going to my wardrobe –
everything in it looks fabulous on me, its fun
to get dressed in the morning, I value the
clothes I have and I am always getting
compliments on how nice I look.
Eve is quite simply a fabulous mentor, her
wardrobe audit is much more than a process of
clearing out clothes its about clearing out a
lot of outdated negative perceptions you may
have about yourself and bringing back into your
life that sense that being a women is a gorgeous
thing.
